Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | My Multi-media division are all experiences issues with CS4. Slow to open documents, slow to page dwon. Slow to caopy and paste. All basic functions. We all basically have 2ghz to 3ghz processors and 1 -2 Gb Ram. Are there ways of speeding up this new program. If anyone knows any methods please post. |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | I hope anyone experiencing problems will file official bug reports: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/...?name=wishform Adobe DOES read these and respond. I'm having major issues with Photoshop CS4 sluggishness, filed a bug report yesterday, and got replies from two Adobe engineers within 12 hours, requesting more information. Don't just complain on this forum, where Adobe personnel may or may not see it. File an official report! And maybe, although this is hoping for the impossible, they might just issue a patch to fix issues in Flash...something done only once in Flash history. |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | Actually that's probably not the best place to file a report for this particular issue (which I've now heard several times, though it never came up in the beta cycle). What we need for this is support cases. Flash authoring technical support is available for Flash developers via phone or webcase via: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/ There's got to be some base cause of the problem.. possibly a conflict with something installed on the system, or something involving the number of fonts, or video card issues, etc. open a case and start doing some basic testing and try to find some clues. |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | Bentley, Then I am very confused about where to submit reports of problems. For example, I just discovered that in the "Animator" Workspace layout, the library remains blank: no contents, no icons to create a new symbol or new folder. Annoying for us animators. Is this a "bug" issue or a "support" issue?? And is there a genuine intention this release cycle to actually issue a patch to fix known bugs? |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | I'm going to put in my two cents because I always do. I think there's an issue with the video card and/or the fonts. I've already experienced a major font issue that would make flash crash each time you clicked on a type of text or created text. After uninstalling the font it worked fine. In CS3, Flash would ignore this font and would work fine. I just uninstalled 3 for 4 without touching fonts and it never did crash in 3. Now however I'm getting crashing when the redraw rates seems high, lots of movement and so on. I have vista 64 bit, 24 GB's of memory with a quad core extreme processor. I do have 4 monitiors but plenty of resources remaining for the high redraw rate. Don't know what the problem is... The major problem is Adobe only tests for everything on the low end. They don't have 64 bit computers in the support studio and they surely don't make extreme apps that test the computer's capability or the software's. So when we get the software we tend to push the limits a little more and we have problems... Adobe should select users that will be doing this to the software and allow them to be specific beta testers before things are released. People like myself have already uninstalled CS3 and are using CS4 and don't want to have to roll back to 3 just to get a day's worth of work done... |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | i've found cs4 prone to crashes and very slow to open and close documents. as i mentioned in another thread, i've kept cs3 and am using it for all projects that don't need cs4 features. |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | C-rock, private message me an email address and I'll get you on the list for pre-release private beta testing. Walter.. here is the difference between when you want to file a bug and when you want to file a support case.. If you just want to report something, and you don't care if we reply, then file a bug. Bug reports are usually a one-way communication (though there have been exceptions...) If you need us to work with you toward a solution then you open a support case. That's always a two-way discussion with a clear escalation path (that usually ends on my desk.. that's why my eyes hurt!) |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | I just installed CS4 and I am experiencing very slow Flash operation as well. I haven't played with the other components of CS4 too much, but from what little I did they seem to be working OK. If I create a brand new AS3 document and save it then test the movie it takes almost a full minute (57 seconds) before the progress bar begins to move, then it blazes right through. If I create a simple shape, convert it to a symbol then try to export it for AS, the dialog freezes for ~23 seconds before it fills in the class names. I am running Windows XP Version 2002 SP3, Pentium D CP 3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM. I save my work and my AS class files to a network server. I expect this to slow things down a little. I have tried the same steps with the file saved on the local hard drive and it is significantly faster to compile the movie, but property dialog box change still takes a long time. Once the export for AS checkbox is selected, opening the property dialogue box takes longer than without it checked. I can do the same operations in CS3 with no noticeable difference than if I save it to a hard drive. I will enter this same information into the support system when it finally updates my CS4 registration. Thanks for any , Kurt |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | Well, I got my answer from technical support and it seems to be no answer at all: "I understand that your Flash CS4 runs very slowly when trying to access files saved on a network. This is expected to happen. Files can also get corrupted or be suddenly erased when a user is accessing the file in a network environment. So, it's always better to copy first the file locally. After that, save the file and bring it back to the server. But if you really need to work in a server basis, you can try to use Version Cue Server." I wonder why it wasn't "expected to happen" in CS3? And why isn't it "expected to happen" in any of the other components of the CS4 package? Or any other application that I run for that matter? For now ,I can workaround by doing all work on the local drive and then moving everything back to the network when I am done. This includes my AS class files BTW. But be aware, if you have to work off of a network you should "expect" to work slowly, frustrating slowly! Kurt |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | That's not an acceptable answer. What's the case #? One part of that IS true.. we don't support working across a LAN in Flash (http://www.adobe.com/go/d9bbd9d4). But that was also true in CS3 and all previous versions of Flash. And if you -do- choose to work across a LAN I would not expect it to cause performance issues. That's not why we don't support it. So in your case, if you keep the files local do you see a dramatic speed difference? |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | Bentley, I don't know where else to ask this, but how the heck do I open a support case when Adobe has messed up my product registrations ever since CS2? Every Adobe product I own shows up on my list of registered products, but when I try to open a support case, the drop-down list shows only software I registered prior to 2003! I have contacted Tech Support by e-mail at least a dozen times in the intervening years, but I have never once received a reply. Thus I have never been able to officially open any support cases. So, is there another way? |

Posts: n/a Hébergeur: | Hi Walter, The Animator layout seems to have been designed on a large monitor. I notice that on one of my laptops, I also don't see any symbols in my Library Panel. The problem is the Library Panel's preview area's height is too big for the amount of space dedicated to the Library Panel on a small monitor. If you resize the Library Panel's preview area or if you undock the Library Panel and make it larger, you should see your "missing" Library symbols. HTH, Nivesh |

When your serial numbers are figured then you can phone for support (although you might have to be a squeaky wheel to get past 'installation only' policies'. I hate to recommend that, but it can make a difference). |
