I am novice in Smarty, I need yours ...
I am trying to install Smarty-2.6.14 on my FC5, with PHP5 & apache2

I get following error: -
Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir
'/home/rakesh/public_html/Smarty/templates_c'. Be sure $compile_dir is
writable by the web server user. in
/usr/local/lib/php/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

I am trying at my home dir..

U need to chown apache:apache templates_c. Where apache is the name and
group of your web server

Hi Remo,

It is not a good idea to give 777 permissions to templates_c directory,
or any directory for that matter. Its best practise to only allow your
web server to read and write too the directory.

cd /home/rakesh/public_html/Smarty/
chown apache:apache templates_c
chown apache:apache cache

ls -l
