Posted this so the Smarty forum, but no replies, so now it goes to the
list: Anyone know of a forum app that is suited to use with Smarty? We need to integrate a forum into a site group that makes heavy use of Smarty to present multiple sites from one codebase and one database. Most forums that I've seen seem to have the application logic tied to presentation overly-tightly. I'd like to be able to say, instantiate a forum object and pull discussion threads from it as deep arrays, and send that to Smarty for presentation. Surely someone has travelled this road before? I can write it myself, but it would be nice to use a more mature app for something so user-intensive as a forum. The only forum-related item I found was Tiki CMS, which is not a forum app per se. Perhaps it would be useful, perhaps not. I'm willing to look, but was hoping that someone on the list might have a suggestion. I also googled around, and did find something appropriate. Two other possibilities are Drupal and XOOPS. Using Drupal for its forum only is like buying a swiss army knife for just its corkscrew - might work, but hardly ideal. Any experience with XOOPS? AFAIK it's much like Drupal... -- Maximillian Von Schwanekamp NeptuneWebworks.com <http://www.neptunewebworks.com/> voice: 541-683-6231 fax: 866-853-4148 |
