I need assistance using sendmail or mail() as my web hosting service
does not allow opening sockets.

I didn't read all 200 lines, but the code you posted seemed to have
SMTP strewn throughout it.

You said you can't use SMTP.

So stop using that code.

Try this instead:

There, you just used mail() with sendmail.
