Par défaut Recommended Paging file size

We have a PowerEdge 2850 server with 6GB RAM running Windows Server 2003
Standard x64 Edition and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise.

Windows recognize all 6GB of RAM but the server is making lot of disk
access.
SQL Servr is set to use 6GB of RAM, but never pass of 4GB.

Paging file size is set to 2046-4096. I think that is the problem.

What's the recomended size of the paging file size?

Thankyou in advance.

FM

Fabio,
Recommended size is System Managed. You can monitor the page file usage in
Task Manager or perfmon, and try setting it to be the same size as the
physical memory,

Thankyou for answering.

If it's recommended, why it is not the default option after installing
Windows?

I think you are running into the limit of 2003 Standard to access 4GB...

Hello Hank,

Think you have missed the 64bit in the Standard edition, this can use up
to 32 GB RAM.

Best regards
