Hello,
I have looked into the group policy to set things like which drives users can see and which things appear on the start menu and such, but I can't figure out how to customize it on a group level. I.E. My power uses should be able to see C: drive for instance, but standard users should not be able to see C: drive at all. Power uses can have access to Internet exployer while others users should not. How can I canfigure this things on a per group basic and not a per computer. Thanks |

With standalone XP or Win2k Pro, it's all or nothing at all, per computer. I suggest you post in microsoft.public.windows.group_policy, and provide more detail as to your current config |

Hi i assume you have active directory in place then group policies are the
way to go, however it gets tricky when you want certain policies to apply to certain security groups. Your best bet would be to organise your different groups into different OU's in AD and link gpo's to the OU's. Thats partly what they are there for. If reorganising AD is not an option you can link gpo's to OU's and deny certain security groups the permission to apply the gpo (its in the ACL of the gpo), however this gets tricky if members belong to several groups. -- James Yeomans, BSc, MCSE "James Williams" wrote: > Hello, > > I have looked into the group policy to set things like which drives users > can see and which things appear on the start menu and such, but I can't > figure out how to customize it on a group level.
