Par défaut Remote server access problem

Hi! We have a remote office on a VPN WAN using a DSL link. The link went
down last night and was still not up when the users came in the next
morning. They could logon to their computers, but could not access the local
server. The server at the remote office is a member of the domain, but is
not a Domain Controller. Making it a DC is not an option since the DSL link
is pretty flaky. As a work-around they put the a user account for each user
on the server, but that is not really a good solution.

Is there a way to tell the server in the remote office to allow access if it
cannot connect to the DCs?

Thanks!!!!

Hello Keith,

Now you have one reason for having a DC also in the remote site. Users can
logon on only localy because no DC/DNS server is available. They can not
access the member server, because there accounts can not be verified by the
DC and so they can not access the resources on the member server which belongs
to the domain configuration. Until you have the connection back i think you
have no other solution as the now used one.

You can even use an older machine to configure it as a DC/DNS and place it
in the remote site. How fast is your connection? You talk about DSL, which
should be sufficient enough.

Best regards
