I have run the pre-compaction utility on my production VM's (all Win2K3 R2
systems, guest and host.) After the run, one of the VM's has several 1Gb ..tmp files on the C:\ drive. This particular .vhd file was very much in need of compaction, so I'm assuming these files represent the recovered space and can be deleted. Can anyone confirm this before I do something bad? Thanks, Joe |

just monitor the folder where your virtual machine resides.
And be sure!! it resides only there (check configuration of virtual disk locations). When you run compact there will be a new disk built in the same folder. And in the end of the proces old vhd file is deleted and then the compacted disk is renamed to the new VHD file.. it doesnt leave any files. Also be sure you have enough space to compact (a thumb rule you require about the same space as free space) Be sure to understand compacting; i would advise you to read about it. -- I always have your towl nearby ready to take off "Joe" wrote: > I have run the pre-compaction utility on my production VM's (all Win2K3 R2 > systems, guest and host.)
