I've installed KB949219 on Server 2008 without-hyper-v EE. However, I don't
see the Hyper-V role in the roles manager. I've checked the bios for Virtualization as well as Data Execution Prevention, but both seem set correctly. I was hoping a reinstall of the patch might , but I can't find a way to uninstall it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Well the "without Hyper-V" is a bit of a giveaway!
That KB is an update to Hyper-V. It won't do much on a system without Hyper-V. Ha! Okay ... thought I was adding the hyper-v part by doing the KB install.
I thought to myself, hey don't install the one with the beta, just install the one without it and install the RC when you're done. Guess it does not work that way. Thanks! Apreciate it. Off to reinstall I go. ![]() "Bill Grant" wrote: > Well the "without Hyper-V" is a bit of a giveaway! > > That KB is an update to Hyper-V. You can update to the RC one of two ways: 1. Install the Hyper-V role and then install the update. 2. Install the update and then install the Hyper-V role. I've done it both ways and both work equally well. If the OP is using Server 2008 RTM then the Hyper-V role should appear in the list of available roles regardless of whether or not the KB update has been installed. The installation of the KB does not install the Hyper-V role, but it will cause the Hyper-V role to be at RC0 if one runs the Add Roles wizard after the KB is installed. I'm guessing that the OP hasn't actually installed the role yet, though that is a little unclear. If that is the case, and the KB has already been installed then all he needs to do at this point is to add the role and he'll be at RC0. -- Paul Adare MVP - Virtual Machines http://www.identit.ca Semi-conductor: A person hired to lead an orchestra before he has graduated from director's school. |

For me the only second way is working. First update and later add
Hyper-V role. The first way update is stoping after 54% MarcusB Paul Adare wrote: > On Wed, 2 Apr 2008 10:08:04 +1100, Bill Grant wrote: > >> Well the "without Hyper-V" is a bit of a giveaway! >> >> That KB is an update to Hyper-V. The first issue may be due to this issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/950792 Don't know for sure, just guessing. Matthijs "MarcusB" wrote: > For me the only second way is working. First update and later add > Hyper-V role.
