I set up Virtual Server 2005 R2 Sp1 on a machine and built a domain with
several servers on it. All of VHDs are differencial using a Parent vhd and are on C: drive. I tried to move this system to another machine also running VS2005R2Sp1. On the new machine, I copied all VHDs to D: drive, created the same network and VMs with these VHDs. However, when starting a vm, e.g. DC1, it showed a black screen. Any suggestion? Thanks. |

You must ensure that you have moved the VHD as well as the differencing
disk(s). Also, ensure that you have shut down (as opposed to saving state) the systems to be moved. Ultimately, if you're positive that you have all necessary files moved, you can modify the configuration through the interface or directly edit the .VMC (configuration) file using Notepad (only recommended for users who know what they're editing). :-) Finally, make sure your permissions are correct... be aware of hardware that has virtualization support in the CPU
when enabled you cannt move between a machine that lacks such an option or has it disabled. and visa versa they dont mix. Oh and VMware as wel as virtual sever want to control that future only one can win if you have it. -- I always have your towl nearby ready to take off "Ryan Sokolowski [MVP]" wrote: > You must ensure that you have moved the VHD as well as the differencing > disk(s).
