We have Windows 2008 64bit Enterprise running on HP DL380. It run
perfectly. We add Hyper-V role, restarted it and after restart we run KB949219 update and than after restart it hangs at 54%. Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 54% complete Do not turn off your computer It is the same in another machine. We tried 5 times from the beginning. It seems that RC0 is a joke. How to install it ? I've added it on my ML350 without issue. Haven't tried the DL380 yet, I'll
have to tomorrow. But I've done it on the three machines I've installed on the same way. Fresh OS install. Run the OOBE down to the Roles portion, skip that, install PowerShell, and then install the KB. Only after the KB is installed do I install the Hyper-V Role. And it's on a fairly clean machine. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "MarcusB" <bafi@linux.nu> wrote in message news:uiEHkEuiIHA.6032@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > We have Windows 2008 64bit Enterprise running on HP DL380. VT has been notorious for being poorly implemented in many PC BIOSes and causing all kinds of problems including BSOD. Check if there is a BIOS update available. Bo Berglund |

THe system We have is original HP DL 380, 10GB RAM, and one CoreDuo 2 Ghz CPU. 2 x 72 GB SAS disks (on P400 controler) plus MSA60 array with 2 x 500GB (on P800 controler)SATA disks. There is a fresh installed Windows 2008 Enterprise plus PSP 8.0 från HP. Tee fresh windows with Beta Hyper-V is working perfectly. I tried install RC0 Hyper-V KB949219 and it stops at 54% after restart like I described. I do like this: Instal Windows 2008 Instal PSP 8.0 från HP and restart Instal Hyper-V role (Beta) restart And install KB949219 restart and than hangs at 54% According Microsoft you should add Hyper-V role before insalling uppgrade. If you do not add Hyper-V role before than RC0 will not be installed. KB949219 will install okey but when you add Hyper-V role it will ad Beta not RC0 Plese before I will get mad Marcus Charlie Russel - MVP wrote: > I've added it on my ML350 without issue. You should add the KB BEFORE adding the Hyper-V role - that's what's working
here. MS says you can do it in either order, but I haven't tried it the way you're doing it. Just to be clear - is this a DL380G5, or an older DL380? And also to be clear - is this the RTM version of Server 2008? Or one of the beta/RC versions? ONLY the RTM is supported. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "MarcusB" <bafi@linux.nu> wrote in message news:eLdEnlziIHA.4344@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > > THe system We have is original HP DL 380, 10GB RAM, and one CoreDuo 2 Ghz > CPU. > 2 x 72 GB SAS disks (on P400 controler) plus MSA60 array with 2 x 500GB > (on P800 controler)SATA disks. > There is a fresh installed Windows 2008 Enterprise plus PSP 8.0 från HP. > > > Tee fresh windows with Beta Hyper-V is working perfectly. > I tried install RC0 Hyper-V KB949219 and it stops at 54% after restart > like I described. > > I do like this: > Instal Windows 2008 > Instal PSP 8.0 från HP and restart > Instal Hyper-V role (Beta) restart > And install KB949219 restart and than hangs at 54% > > According Microsoft you should add Hyper-V role before insalling uppgrade. > If you do not add Hyper-V role before than RC0 will not be installed. > KB949219 will install okey but when you add Hyper-V role it will ad Beta > not RC0 > > Plese before I will get mad > > > Marcus > > > > Charlie Russel - MVP wrote: >> I've added it on my ML350 without issue. It is the new one DL380G5 with latest BIOS 56.
Yes it is RTM version of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise. I tried also the way you talking. But I am not sure if than after adding role you will get RC0 and not Beta. I did not find Microsoft saying about updating your way. After installing your way I think you will not get RC0. The funny thing is that installing yur way I was not able to uninstall KB949219 update.
