My hardware is 64 bit compatible ! I now have a Windows 2003 standard edition 32 bits. Can I run a 64 bit virtual machine on this server or should I change the OS to 64 bits? Thanks a lot Dag |

You cannot run x64 OS as virtual machines on Virtual Server neither on
VirtualPC. You'll have to use Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, but also there your hardware needs to be compatible with hardware virtualization. (Note that you must use the correct file for 64-bit installation) So all guest systems will run x86. |

You _might_ be able to do this with VMWare on your current server. They have
a compatibility check tool that will tell you. Other than that? You'd need to be running a Windows Server 2008 x64 version, have hardware virtualization capability of your CPU and BIOS, and enable the beta of Hyper-V. That is the only MS virtualization solution that supports 64bit guests. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "Cyril" <daghood@gmail.com> wrote in message news:BC62BF06-B310-4FFC-8C0D-E8B883CA69EA@microsoft.com... > > My hardware is 64 bit compatible !
