Hmmm. Good question. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it should. That
being said, however, you would need to follow the instructions for installing without the administrative web site, but do your management from a remote machine. I'm pretty sure the admin site would be a problem. But if you've got Win2k8, why not run Hyper-V instead? -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "Peter Hale" <p0911@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:OIYj2bvaIHA.4808@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Will Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 run on Windows 2008 core > > Pete > |

I thought that the core version does not come with a GUI interface... But I have not tried it myself. Bo Berglund |

Some will, some won't. Depends on what their requirements and pre-reqs are.
..MSI's should install using the /q switch (/quiet). -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "Bo Berglund" <boberglund@home.se> wrote in message news:4r9tq31p2uef8783eb6uiuqlsql3un2g82@4ax.com... > On Sat, 9 Feb 2008 07:55:50 -0800, "Charlie Russel - MVP" >"Peter > Hale" <p0911@hotmail.com> wrote in message >>news:OIYj2bvaIHA.4808@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >>> Will Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 run on Windows 2008 core >>> >>> Pete >>> > <charlie@mvKILLALLSPAMMERSps.org> wrote: > >>Hmmm. It's only the server itself which has no GUI. -- Peter, der Serverdoktor mit Gruß aus Enns/Österreich MVP Virtual Machine |

Hello Pete,
Yes, Virtual Server WORKS on top of Windows Server 2008 Core. You need to make an silent unattend installation without the Web component. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards - Alexander Ortha (Microsoft) This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
