I have installed Virtual PC 2007 on my Vista machine and noticed that the
virtual machine restarts every so often. The notification that I get is "the eveluation period for this installation of windows has expired. this sytem will shutdown in 1 hour. To restore access to this installation of windows, please upgrade this installation using a licensed distribution of this product." I had downloaded this from Microsoft and wasn't aware that it wasn't licensed. Does anyone know hoe I can upgrade to a licensed version?? Or a work around for this with out resetting all of my settings? Thanks, Mike |

That doesn't sound like VPC. That sounds like Windows. Since VPC 2007 is
free there is no need for a trial version. The last version that was time-bombed was VPC 2007 beta a couple of years ago. If you are using a beta just download the version presently available at Windows Downloads and install it. You do not say what the host and guest operating systems are and where you got the copy of Windows in the guest so it is hard to tell what you are doing. btw, this newsgroup is for Virtual Server, not VPC. You should post future
questions for VPC at microsoft.public.virtualpc "Mike C" <Mike C@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:133B3B8D-5332-455E-A022-3F440B0C2C82@microsoft.com... >I have installed Virtual PC 2007 on my Vista machine and noticed that the > virtual machine restarts every so often. First you have to buy a retail copy of the version of Vista you are running in the VM, then you can change to the new product key via the control panel / system. This is on a normal version of Vista, I'm not sure about the eval version, it may not let you do that, and in that case, you'll have to install Vista fresh from the copy you bought above. -- Bob Comer <Microsoft MVP Windows - Virtual Machine> On Tue, 5 Feb 2008 07:46:02 -0800, Mike C <Mike C@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >I have installed Virtual PC 2007 on my Vista machine and noticed that the >virtual machine restarts every so often.
