When installing SQL Server 2005 Express I get the error "SQL Server System
Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI Configuration on the machine...." I've looked online and found the WMIFIX.cmd which did not work for me. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic. Can you me? |

In case anyone else is having this problem (and I found quite a few folks
out there) I found a solution in my case. It went like this: Went to the MMC and noticed WMI control wasnt there. Did add snap-in and found it there, so I added it. Did a save and rebooted just for good measure Went back to MMC and it still wasnt there, so I tried it again. This time after reboot it WAS there (I probably did something wrong the first time) Anyway, ran SQLEXP32.EXE again and this time got past that screen. Holding my breath, came to another error complaining about my sqlncli.msi file. Realizing I still had some earlier attempts still partially installed, I went to control panel and uninstalled all SQL programs and tried a reinstall of SQLEXP32.EXE. Took a deep breath, and YES! A successful install!
