Hello Doug and Aaron,
For Reporting Services, the following IIS components should be installed: Web Management Tools -IIS 6 Management Compatibility -IIS 6 WMI Compatibility -IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility World Wide Web Services - Application Development - .NET Extensibility - ASP.NET - ISAPI Extensions - ISAPI Filters - Common HTTP Features - Default Document - Directory Browsing - HTTP Redirection - Static Content - Security - Windows Authentication In Windows Vista Premium, "Windows Authentication" component is not available so that's why your SQL Server 2005 Setup complains about it. This means, you can't install SQL Server Reporint Services on Windows Vista Premium. -- Ekrem Önsoy "Doug Patterson" <doug@customnewbeginnings.us> wrote in message news:72903D21-F36F-4EAF-BF52-555DA824C9D5@microsoft.com... > > "Aaron Bertrand [SQL Server MVP]" <ten.xoc@dnartreb.noraa> wrote in > message news:08E98805-2187-4762-9880-8838B5D5BB50@microsoft.com... >> I'm not sure, but this also happened to me with SQL Server 2005 Developer >> Edition on Windows Server 2008 x64. On Vista Home Premium SP1.
I have IIS7 installed and running. I'm trying to install SQL Server, but it gives a warning: "Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is either not installed or is disabled. IIS is required by some SQL Server features. Without IIS, some SQL Server features will not be available for installation..." I can see clearly in the IIS Management Console that IIS is running. Why is SQL Server blind to this fact? Thank you. Doug Patterson |

I'm not sure, but this also happened to me with SQL Server 2005 Developer
Edition on Windows Server 2008 x64. If you are not planning on using reporting services then I wouldn't worry about it too much. That said, if you have your setup log you may want to post a bug on Connect.microsoft.com. I will certainly validate that it happens...
