Say I have two quad-core processors, but only purchase one sql proc license.
Technically I have two processors but see 8 in my SQL install. If I purchase one proc license, am I entitled to turn on SQL for proc 0-3 since all 4 of those are on 1 physical processor? |

No, the way the licensing works, you would need to remove the second
physical processor to be in strict compliance. Processor licensing is about processor sockets. Cores of CPUs are not the
matter. The matter is CPU sockets. So, if you have two sockets of CPUs and want to use both of them, then you are supposed to buy two processor license. -- Ekrem Önsoy "ctowndu33" <ctowndu33@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:50E53138-AF3C-4B93-98BD-C301715F60B7@microsoft.com... > Say I have two quad-core processors, but only purchase one sql proc > license. > Technically I have two processors but see 8 in my SQL install.
