I'm attempting to install SQL Server (2005 Enterprise) on a Dell XPS720 Quad
Core, 4GB RAM box with 32-bit Windows Server 2003. After the initial splash screen displays, when I click on any option group in the left-hand pane of the window, I get an error: "An error has occurred in the script on this page" "Line 215" "Char 3" "Error: The system cannot file the file specified." "Code 0" "URL:///F:/Servers/Default.htm" I checked on the DVD (drive letter 'F') and the file "F:\Servers\Default.htm" does indeed exists. It is worth noting that this box previously had "SQL Server Developer's or Express Edition" or whatever it was called loaded. How can I overcome this error? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Excel Product Group (1998 - 2008) Pearson Software Consulting, LLC www.cpearson.com chip@cpearson.com |

Try navigating to F:\Servers\setup.exe directly on the CD instead of using
the HTML page. Hi Chip,
It is really impossible to tell what exactly is the error given the error message since it is a very generic error message. However I do suggest you to do the following and let me know if that s : ++Uninstall all versions of SQL server whatsoever ++If you do not see any entry in the add remove programs or you face any problem removing the SQL server installation(s) please follow this KB article and remove the SQL server installations manually : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909967 ++Next please remove the .net 2.0 installation totally and then re-install it ++Now try installing the MSDN edition once again and lets see if this work Please understand that the action plan defined above may or may not resolve the problem and this is my personal opinion based on my experience.
