Hi all,

I've installed SQL Express on a windows 2003 server x64. I've also installed
sharepoint on this server which uses SQL Express for its database. Now, I
need to install Office Communication Server on this machine but it needs SQL
Server Enterprize. I am trying to install it as another instance of SQL
server, but I receive the following error message:

SQL Server Setup could not run. Another instance of SQL Server Setup is
already running. The running instance must complete before you can run SQL
Server Setup again.

Any body can me? How can I install the SQL Server Enterprize or upgrade
the Express edition?

Hi,

Please try the following:

++Please go to the command prompt and type in services.msc and hit enter
++On the services panel navigate to the part starting with S and search for
something like SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)
++Right click and stop the service
++Now go to the task manager and check if any other setup instance is
running under the process tab-if so please rightclick and kill that process
++Now you can try running the setup once again

Please understand that the action plan defined above may or may not resolve
the problem and this is my personal opinion based on my experience.
