Par défaut Installing SQL Server Management Studio

Windows XP Pro
I do have a MS SQL 2005 Developer edition
On the machine I already have a MS SQL Server 2000 (SP 4)
I also want to install MSSQL Server 2005. The installation of the server(s)
of SQL 2005 has been quite successful
But for some strange reason, It is impossible for me to install the SQL
Server Management Studio. It tells me:
----
Name: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Express Edition
Reason: Your upgrade is blocked. For more information about upgrade support,
see the "Version and Edition Upgrades" and "Hardware and Software
Requirements" topics in SQL Server 2005 Setup or SQL Server 2005 Books
Online.

Build version check:
Your upgrade is blocked because the existing component is a later version
than the version you are trying to upgrade to. To modify an existing SQL
Server component, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, select the
component you would like to modify, and then click Change/Remove.

----
I really do not have the management studio on mu machine.

I have had the Express version, but have uninstalled it.

How can I get the Management Studio from my Developer edition installed

I desperately need this

Best regards

Anders

Hello Anders,

Do you see anything related to SQL Server 2005 when get to Control Panel's
"Add\Remove Programs"?

If you have installed SSMSE somehow or workstation components of Express
Edition SP2's, then you can except an error message like yours as your SQL
Server version is the RTM but the Express Edition' s SP2. So it's newer than
your RTM and this must be cause of the problem.

Note: SSMSE and SSMS can not be installed side by side. You should uninstall
one of them to install the other.

Thank you for your response.
I have uninstalled SSE, but apparently there were residues from this
installation.
In order to have at least something to work with, I then installed SSMSE,
but after I realized that there were many features missing, I again
uninstalled the SSMSE.
I also suspect there were residues from this installation after uninstall

However - I worked further on the problem, and I successed to fix it.
During installation, there was a warning, and the details in this warning
told me to launch the Setup from the commandline, and add the switch
SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter to the setup. Then the warning disappeared, and it was
now possible to add the workstation components to the install.

This was the problem

Best regards

Anders
