I have some databases on sql 2000 Developer Ed SP4 version 8.00.2039 and it
work with reporting services Developer Ed version 8.0.1038.00. I need upgrade it to sql2005 and reporting services 2005 too SP2. But I want to do upgrade without backup/restore of database. If I run Install2005 with Default instance, it indentified Installed components but upgrade option disabled. How I can do it? Pls me. Michael |

You say that your current installed SQL Server 2000 instance is a Developer
Edition + SP4. But you did not mention the edition of the SQL Server 2005 that you want to upgrade to. Your only choice to upgrade from SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition is to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. Here's a list of the available upgrade paths: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../ms143393.aspx -- Ekrem Önsoy "Michael" <michaelm@mdgmedical.com> wrote in message news:uJB1gEKoIHA.3532@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >I have some databases on sql 2000 Developer Ed SP4 version 8.00.2039 and it >work with reporting services Developer Ed version 8.0.1038.00. > > I need upgrade it to sql2005 and reporting services 2005 too SP2. According to your e-mail:
First take a look at this document: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../ms144256.aspx And then, in SQL Server Setup, ensure that you selected your "SQL Server Database Services" at least in the Components to Install window and your SQL Server 2000 Instance which is going to be upgraded to a 2005 Instance in the Instance Name window. After selecting it, keep going and if Setup disables and unchecks "SQL Server Database Services 8...." checkbox then it means there is a problem. Click the Details... button which is in the same window and it'll tell you the problem (hopefully) -- Ekrem Önsoy "Michael" <michaelm@mdgmedical.com> wrote in message news:uJB1gEKoIHA.3532@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >I have some databases on sql 2000 Developer Ed SP4 version 8.00.2039 and it >work with reporting services Developer Ed version 8.0.1038.00. > > I need upgrade it to sql2005 and reporting services 2005 too SP2.
