As per the documentation on the link (you have provided) all edidtions of SQL
2005 should install in windows Server 2008.But when I install Standard/enterprise edition it complains about incompatibiliy. However I tried with express edition(downloaded from microsft website) and installation went through. But I did not see the enterprise manger in Express edition.WHat is the diff. between Standard and express ediion ? There is no Enterprise Manager in SQL Server 2005. There is a management
tool called SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) in SQL Server. However, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition does not include this tool. You can download SSMS Express from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...8-5A0F62BF7796 Also, to see the differences between SQL Server 2005 Editions, go to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinf...-features.mspx To overcome the incompatibilities in Vista and Windows 2008, install SP2 of SQL Server 2005 on those systems. -- Ekrem Önsoy http://www.ekremonsoy.net , http://ekremonsoy.blogspot.com MCBDA, MCTS: SQL Server 2005, MCITP BA, MCSD.Net, MCSE, MCT"Ghanashyam" <Ghanashyam@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3D26B7E6-7599-401C-A10E-DA198E445C49@microsoft.com... > As per the documentation on the link (you have provided) all edidtions of > SQL > 2005 should install in windows Server 2008.But when I install > Standard/enterprise edition it complains about incompatibiliy. However I > tried > with express edition(downloaded from microsft website) and installation > went > through. But I did not see the enterprise manger in Express edition.WHat is > the diff. between Standard and express ediion ? > > Ghanashyam > > "Ekrem Önsoy" wrote: > >> Visit the following link: >> http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobu...tasupport.mspx >> >> -- >> Ekrem Önsoy >> http://www.ekremonsoy.net , http://ekremonsoy.blogspot.com >> MCBDA, MCTS: SQL Server 2005, MCITP BA, MCSD.Net, MCSE, MCT>> >> >> >> "Ghanashyam" <Ghanashyam@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:385DE213-1309-4051-811A-3D0571B3629E@microsoft.com... >> >I am trying to install SQL 2005 (standard/enterprise) in windows server >> > 2008.And it complains about compatibility issues.
