I have Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM, XP SP2. I did not have SQL Server
previously installed.

I installed Visual Studio 2005. Then I ran the SQL Server 2005 Developer
Edition disk from the VS 2005 package. Now when I go into Setup, it tells me
that Installed Instances = Analysis Services, Reporting Services, SQL Server,
and SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS).

The Start, Programs, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 menu only has 2 items:
Configuration Tools, and SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Advisor.

How do I access SQL Server 2005? How do I access SQL Query Analyzer?

You look forgot selecting Management Tools in SQL Server Setup.

You should have selected Management Tools from Client tools when you were in
Components to Install page. There is a button labeled "Advanced...". You
would click on it and select the necessary components.
