When you install SQL Server, is it necessary to run the SQL Setup
install under the credential in which SQL Server service would run under? Or is that okay if I logged into the computer under my credentials and then install SQL Server. Is there a best practice for this? Also, when SQL Server is being installed the ploicy here is to install it on D: not the local hard drive of the server, are there any disadvantages to it? Thanks |

You need to install using an account that is a local administrator. There
are additional requirements for cluster installs. You do not have to use the SQL service account to do the installation. I typically do not use the service account since I don't make it an administrator on the local machine, at least for SQL 2005. -- Geoff N.
