I have updated to SQL Express 2005 SP2, but my C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\Bootstrapper\Packages\SqlExpress\en directory still contains the original RTH, 9.0.1399.6. How can I start including SP 2 in my installer app via VS 2005 prerequisites? -- Randy Hersom Habilitation Software Inc. |

Hi Randy,
When we select a prerequisite from the Prerequisites diaog box, a setup.exe bootstrapping application is created which will install the prerequisite if it has not been installed on the target machine and then install your product package. Yes, you're right. The default prerequisite components don't include SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2, even if you have updated to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2. To include this component as a prerequisite in your MSI package, I think you need to create a custom setup.exe bootstrapping application to include the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 as a prerequisite. The Windows SDK for Vista provides a setup.exe sample, which resides in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Samples\SysMgmt\MSI\setup.exe". You may also download the Platfrom SDK for Windows 2003, which provides a setup.exe sample as well. Hope this s. If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
