I have installed SQL 2005 standard (and SP2) on a brand new WIN2003 server
fully patched and although I selcted to install the management tools they are not there. All I get are the config tools. When I tried to install them again I get the message that they are already installed. Where are they? This is driving me nuts. What a crazy setup please David Morris |

Hello David,
I would like to know whether you are install the SQL Server from CD? If so, I would like to suggest you copy all the CD content to local server and try to install the management tools again. 1. Create a folder in the local drive. And create 2 folders under it named Servers and Tools. 2. Copied the SQL 2005 CDs to local drive. CD1 to Servers and CD2 to Tools. 3. From Add/remove program, uninstalled workstation components. 4. Started the setup from tools folder.Selected and installed all workstation components. After that, please run "sqlwb" in the command line prompt to check whether the management studio is installed. Hope this s. This worked - thank you! Why is this issue not included in documentation - it would save us time and considerable frustration.
