I registered ASP.NET on my Vista Enterprise x64 machine using the command:
"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727>a spnet_regiis.exe -i" It was indicated as successful. When proceeding with the installation of "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2" from "http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=31711d5d-725c-4afa-9d65-e4465cdff1e7&DisplayLang=en" during the "System Configureation Check" "ASP.NET Version Registration Requirement" gives a status of "Warning" with this message: "- ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement (Warning) Messages ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement Failed to find the ASP.Net Version Registration with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)." What is the meaning of this and what is the remedy? |

Hi,
I understand that you encountered the ASP.NET Version Registration warning when you installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on your Vista Enterprise x64 machine, although you had run aspnet_regiis.exe to register Asp.net on your machine. If I have misunderstood, please let me know. The problem is most likely caused by 32 bit asp.net not registered since SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is a 32 bit application. Please check Web Server Extensions in your IIS to see if ASP.NET V2.0.50727(32-bit) is allowed. If not, please allow it. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know. today i encountered the same problem as originally mentioned at begin of this message thread.
i read here the fix. i am not a microsoft certified engineer, so am not familiar with where and how to check the 'web server extensions in iis' to enable 32 bit application support. 1. can you please be kind to tell me where and how i would check this. 2. i was also wondering if there is a place one can go to turn on or off 'wow64' bit 32 bit emulation mode. i am wanting to confirm that the functionality is actually turned 'on' and running, as for x64 systems, this is also required to support 32 bit apps. your is greatly appreciated. thanks... |
