To All...
Can you install SQL on a SAN drive...ie...Engine & System Dbs...???... I think I know but just wanted to get some input... To the best of my knowledge, SQL does not care about what kind of drive it is, only the location is important...So, you can install the engine as system dbs on a SAN... Obviously, if SAN connectivity is lost, SQL won't run, so there are some pros and cons about installing to a local drive or to a SAN drive... Thanks in advance... JTJ |

I belive you are right, because when installing SQL Server will still put big
chunk of the files on System drive. But in our network configuration, we have Engin/Server files on System Drive. And three additional drives all SAN attached, one stores, Data Files, One Logs, One any secondary data files. And haven't had any issues with that configuration. -- Mohit K. Gupta B.Sc. In our case, the binaries are on local disks, the database files are on SAN
