I have the evaluation edition of SQL Server 2000 and trying to install the
'client tools' namely the Enterprise Manager on my PC. I'm getting an error when running the installation program. I get as far as choosing the location to install to, and when I click "Next" I get the error: "A previous program installation created pending file operations on the installation machine. You must restart your computer before running setup". I've restarted my PC and restarted the setup program numerous times, but always get the same message. I do have SQL Server 2005 Express installed - would this make a difference to installing SQL 2000 (or components thereof)? Perhaps it is causing conflicts? I'm trying to install only the 'client tools' (as per advice from my host) so I can interface with their db server (Sql Server 2000) using the Enterprise Manager. Is there any issue with connecting with the Management Studio in SQL Server Express 2005, to a SQL Server 2000? I have managed to do so, but my host thinks there may be compatibility issues. |
