I have MSDN. I'm trying to install SQL Server 2005 Standard SP2 on a Vista
Business box. The system meets the system requirements. The system used to have SQL 2000, but that was uninstalled when the box was upgraded to Vista Business. I had installed SQL Server 2005 Express SP2 successfully. However, since that product did NOT include a profiler, I unistalled it. I get an error "No Qualifying Products", "This machine does not have a product that matches this installation package." I tried SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x86-ENU.exe What is missing? According to the web site any version of Vista should be ok, not just Enterprise. Do I really need Standard? I own an NFR license,. How else can i get the Profiler running? This is strictly for development and testing, not production use. I am confused by new packaging.... -- Jim |

Jim,
Had you installed the gold build first? It is not clear from your message. You install the gold then the latest SP. I tried installing SP1
SQLServer2005SP1-KB913090-x86-ENU.exe from a CD dated 4/14/2006 first, and got the same error. Is it a chicken and egg problem? i.e., can't install SP2 unless you have an earlier release and you can't install an earlier release because you have Vista? -- Jim "Chris Wood" wrote: > Jim, > > Had you installed the gold build first? No, the issue is you don't have a product that it's legal to install
profiler on. SQL Express doesn't include profiler. This has nothing to do with Vista or SP2 -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Use of included script samples are subject to the terms specified at http://www.microsoft.com/info/cpyright.htm "Jim Mitten" <JimMitten@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:23731354-BB7A-4BB6-9B21-7BEDB8465278@microsoft.com... >I tried installing SP1 > SQLServer2005SP1-KB913090-x86-ENU.exe > from a CD dated 4/14/2006 first, and got the same error. > > Is it a chicken and egg problem? i.e., can't install SP2 unless you have > an earlier release and you can't install an earlier release because you > have > Vista? > > -- > Jim > > > "Chris Wood" wrote: > >> Jim, >> >> Had you installed the gold build first? I own an NFR (Developer) license to SQL Server 2005 Standard. That's
why I was trying to Install Standard. -- Jim "Roger Wolter[MSFT]" wrote: > No, the issue is you don't have a product that it's legal to install > profiler on. SQL Express doesn't include profiler. Sorry, I misunderstood. It looks like you're trying to install SP2 without
first installing SQL Standard. -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. I was able to install from another CD. The first CD I tried was
poorly labeled. I thought it was SQL w/ SP1, but it was only SP1. A more descriptive error message, would have saved me some time. Oh well, thanks for the . -- Jim "Roger Wolter[MSFT]" wrote: > Sorry, I misunderstood.
