Par défaut SP2 install problem

We're having trouble applying SP2 on our 2005 Enterprise instance. All
components/features other than "Client Components" upgraded fine.

The HotFix.log file has the following:
02/27/2007 08:34:02.330 MSP Error: 29549 Failed to install and configure
assemblies D:\Program Files\SQL Server 2005 Enterprise
Edition\90\NotificationServices\9.0.242\Bin\micros oft.sqlserver.notificationservices.dll in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087
Error message: Unknown error 0x80131501
Error description: The transaction has aborted.

Oddly, Notification Services isn't installed on this server, although it
might have been at some point because the following directory exists:
D:\Program Files\SQL Server 2005 Enterprise
Edition\90\NotificationServices\9.0.242\Bin

Following is our list of components:

MSSQLSERVER
Analysis Services
[Version: 9.2.3042.00 Edition: Enterprise Edition Patch level: 9.2.3042
Language: English (United States)]
Database Engine
[Version: 9.2.3042.00 Edition: Enterprise Edition Patch level: 9.2.3042
Language: English (United States)]

Common components
Integration Services
[Version: 9.2.3042.00 Edition: Enterprise Edition Patch level: 9.2.3042
Language: English (United States)]
Workstation Components
[Version: 9.1.2047.00 Edition: Enterprise Edition Patch level: 9.1.2047
Language: English (United States)]

We could really use on this. Upgrade went fine on our test server.
Install bombed on production. Please let me know if there's any additional
troubleshooting info needed.

Ms. Peterson -

Perhaps we have something in common - my post "SQL2k5 SP2 install failed &
uninstalled incompletely .." seems to be somewhat related.

How did you determine the version of your "workstation components" ?

Add/remove Programs
Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Change button
Lists components you've installed.
Hit "Report" to get specific info.

I'm having a "me too", with slightly different setup. Same as Leslie, except:
- standard edition, not enterprise
- no olap

Install history:
DB engine & client components at SP1, then Integration Services added, then
SP2.
- DB engine went from SP1 to SP2 successfully
- Integration Services went from RTM to SP2 successfully
- client components failed from SP1 to SP2, with errors, 29549, 1603,
0x80131501, failed to register dll in COM+ catalog.
