Hi all,
I am new to Virtualisation and I am sorry for some of the basic questions. I have a requirement for 8 physical servers for our CRM project and I thought to explore Virtualisation. I am not asking for you to do the work for me but if you could just point me to some documentation that shows that ESX server supports Microsoft Windows Server 64 bit, SQL2005 64. That Microsoft will provide support for there software in Virtual environment. I could not find any thing on Microsoft site apart from this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897615 :-( Also I was thinking of using a NetApp SAN, is this a good idea and is there something that I need to be aware of when configuring SQL 2005 in Virtual mode using SAN. |

There is no such documentation - not supported as you
already found in one article. You can also find information (and another link to 897615 ) in the following: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=897613 It's pretty straightforward: "Microsoft does not test or support Microsoft software running in conjunction with non-Microsoft hardware virtualization software" -Sue On Sun, 25 Feb 2007 00:12:20 -0000, "Lion" <Lion@nospam.com> wrote: >I am not asking for you to do the work for me but if you could just point me >to some documentation that shows that ESX server supports Microsoft Windows >Server 64 bit, SQL2005 64. |
