I am trying to install 2005 developer on Vista. Every time I try I just get
"Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connections to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For potential solutions to this problem, see c:\Program Files\Microsoft\OFFICE11\1033\SETUP.CHM". The OWC11 configuration then fails. The log entry that seems to refer to the error shows: MSI (s) (64 8) [11:42:50:308]: Resolving source.MSI (s) (64 8) [11:42:50:308]: User policy value 'SearchOrder' is 'nmu'MSI (s) (64 8) [11:42:50:308]: User policy value 'DisableMedia' is 0MSI (s) (64 8) [11:42:50:308]: Machine policy value 'AllowLockdownMedia' is1 MSI (s) (64 8) [11:42:50:324]: SOURCEMGMT: Looking for sourcelist forproduct {90A40409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9} MSI (s) (64 8) [11:42:50:324]: SOURCEMGMT: Adding{90A40409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}; to potential sourcelist list (pcode;disk;relpath). For other potential solutions to this problem, see c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\SETUP.CHM. The above seems to be looking for Office 2003 web components. They do show in Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and Features as it's called on Vista). The machine is running Vista with Office 2007 and Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and Office Accounting BTR2. This is my main development machine so having no SQL Dev environment is a problem. Any greatly appreciated. Nigel Ainscoe |

Fixed this myself by re-installing Office 2003 Web Components

Nigel,
Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the exact same setup as you and the exact same problem. |
