Here is my problem:
1. When setting up a server a few months ago, an installer apparently installs MSDE 2000. 2. He then installs SQL 2000 Enterprise, and since the default instance is taken, creates a new instance. The new instance is now being used to support a large system. 3. I recently notice that the default instance is MSDE, and since the default instance is also now being used, upgrade using the setup program. The upgrade appears successful until... 4. I remove MSDE 2000 from Add/Remove programs. Now the default instance cannot be accessed, and the services that this is based upon have disappeared. When I renenter Setup, the default instance is greyed out. Is it possible to re-install the default instance, while leaving the new instance intact? Thanks, David |

The answer is yes. The default instance is greyed out when running update,
but running "install new instance" it works as I guess it should. "David R" wrote: > Here is my problem: > 1.
