I have 2 development machines connected into LAN. I have SQL Server 2000
installed on both of them. I had server1(machine2) registered in server2(machine2). Recently something happened and I cannot connect to server1 from server2 anymore. I get a message saying "SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied". I checked properties, I tried to delete and register as a new - no success. What could happen and to what (SQL Server, Windows or something else)? Any advice please Thank you |

Thank you
I tried to ping the machine1 by doing this: ping dellnew dellnew is the name of my machine1. It was successful and returned IP - 192.168.1.104 I tried to register SQL Server using that IP. No success. The same message as before. SQL Server Service is running. What else can I do? By some reason IP of the machine1 changed from 192.168.1.101 to
192.168.1.104 and in registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\ Client\ConnectTo on the machine2 I still had 192.168.1.101 assigned to DELLNEW (machine1). After I changed the value I was able to register SQL Server. But why it did not register when I used IP instead of name I have no idea. Finally the problem soved "Esha" <esha@newsgroups.com> wrote in message news:%23%23vXt3BBHHA.5068@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >I have 2 development machines connected into LAN.
