I was wondering if it was worth it to put the system log (ldf) files on a
different physical drive than the data files. I was going to move the master, model, msdb and tempdb log files to a different drive. found the directions on how to move the files here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345408.aspx Thanks Justin |

No there is no need for system database. However, I have seen some DBA put the log of tempdb on different physical disks "Justin Rich" <jrich523@yahoo.spam.com> wrote in message news:%234CAmFBFJHA.4420@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I was wondering if it was worth it to put the system log (ldf) files on a >different physical drive than the data files. > > I was going to move the master, model, msdb and tempdb log files to a > different drive. > > found the directions on how to move the files here > > http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345408.aspx > > Thanks > Justin > > > |

I figured the tempdb would be of most value since it could be hit rather
hard. wasnt too sure if doing the others was worth it.
