Par défaut SSMS screen refresh rate very slow

Hello all,

I got a new computer at work. I installed client tools on it. When ever I
open a table in SSMS, my scroll/screen refresh rate in SSMS is very
slow...almost painfully slow. On my old computer it is very fast...almost
instantaneous.

My old computer is:
MS Win XP Pro - SP2
Dell Dimension 8200
Intel Pentium 4 CPU - 2.00 GHz, 1.99 GHz (single processor)
1.00 GB Ram

My new computer is:
(a newer, much faster machine)
MS Win XP Pro - SP3
Dell Precision T3400
Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8200 - 2.66 GHz, 2.66 GHz
3.25 GB Ram

Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this? ...a setting
somewhere?

Thanks for any anyone can provide,

Conan Kelly

PS. I came across an MS support website once that had videos on it. It
also had a program to download that you could record your screen and make a
video out of it. I meant to go back to that website and download that file,
but I never got around to it. If I had that program, I could make a video
of what is going on and show you all so you would have a better
understanding. If anyone knows what that website might be (or have another
suggestion for a good, FREE screen recording program), please let me know.

I had some issues with my machine pegging out when I was in SSMS
initially. It was related to the display adaptor. I stopped using
some of that adaptor's features and SSMS worked fine again. There
might be some compatibility issue between SSMS and one of the services
on your new machine. My machine wasn't a Dell, but it sounds all to
familiar.
