Hi,
I found there is a sql 2000 server with OS 2000 has multiple databases with identical structure in one instance. Each database is used by one client. Is this good idea? They are sharing one tempdb and tempdb is used very heavily. I was told this server is 2 Cpus quad core, does that mean it has logical 8 processors? What is the suggestion on respect of performance? Much appreciated any idea, Sg |

It depends on your business requirements. I see lots of businesses having one database per client for many reasons. In your case, do you know what is the reason that each client has a database? Perhaps you can combain them and optimize indexes to speed up the queries "sg" <sg@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:73DDB331-4C43-4E25-A277-1AF7B08DB76C@microsoft.com... > Hi, > I found there is a sql 2000 server with OS 2000 has multiple databases > with > identical structure in one instance. Hi Uri,
Is there any difference if each of them under its own instance and they are all under one instance? Thanks, Sg "Uri Dimant" wrote: > sg > It depends on your business requirements. There is no reason to put them on different instances. Each instance consumes memory and at some point you will perfomance decrease.
