When configuring a connection to a sql 2005 server via the Data Connection
Wizard in Excel 2007, there's no problem using Windows Authentication. But to use an account other than what i'm logged in as, namely a domain service account that i hope to store with the excel report, never flies. The message is always "Login failed for User...". Choosing "Use the following User Name and Password" option doesn't even work for the account i'm logged in with. However, both accounts can be used on the database server to log in via sql manager, and i can use my account to connect via window authentication...just not the alternative account. Listening via TCP/IP on the sql server has been enabled. What else do i need to use in Excel, or in SQL Server, to make the Excel connection successful 'using the following user name and password'? |

Hi It sounds like you are trying to use a windows account when logging in as a SQL Server login. John |
