Hello All,
If I have a server that is ONLY running SQL Server 2005. What are the pros/cons to running Norton Antivirus on that server? Does it make sense or is it a waste of resources? thanks.. |

Just make sure you exclude database, log and backup files from the scans. -- David Portas |

Having an antivirus on the system is always advisable. However an antivirus
will always use some system resources no matter how much efficient it is. Ideally it should run fine independent of SQL server service but to put things in a safer perspective you can exclude the entire SQL directory from the search. However if by any chance the machine is infected with a virus then it may as well corrupt the files excluded.
