Totally. I have customers with windows automatic update running on Vista, and the update kills the server overnight. The update installer evidently stops the service, fails to install with that error, then fails to restart the service. You can see this error reported earlier in this newsgroup, and all over google... When will they fix this? It's very serious, I can't have customers fighting with complex workarounds and useless support calls. At this point I am recommending turning windows automatic updates off, then rebooting.

Ha! Yes, at least for the wasted time and aggravation (and Advil). I have
seen others on Vista having trouble but I'm installing on Server 2003 SP2. I did find where this same error was very common on the SQL Server upgrades a while back but not yet for this patch. I'll keep looking. "Paul" wrote: > Class action lawsuit? There must be enough of us. > > > Totally. The ONLY ones who make money on class action lawsuits are the lawyers (for
both sides) and the very very few plaintiffs who are the leads on the lawsuit. The rest of the claimants, assuming a judgement goes in their favor, get a pittance. -- Kevin G. I would venture to say that he was only joking about the law suit. That
said, does anyone have any words of wisdom about this error I'm getting? Search the web each day. There have been a MASSIVE amount of problems from
the recent security patches and your issue may have been (or will be soon) blogged about or hit in news groups. -- Kevin G. Boles Indicium Resources, Inc.
