Hi,
I have a windows 2003 server (4gb ram) that is already used to host an exchange server, lots of files, and it is also a domain controller. This is used in a small company of 20-30 people. Is it crazy to host both a sql 2000 and sql 2005 instance on that same server? These will run 2 applications also used by maybe 5-10 users. There will also be a reportserver on the server. Is this too much for one server? |

.. Is it crazy to host both a > sql 2000 and sql 2005 instance on that same server? No, I mean it depends. How big are your databases? Have monitored those instances? They are small. One is only 30mb and wont grow much beyond 300mb after a few
years. The other is probably a bit bigger. So I guess its probably ok to have a server hosting exchange server, sql 2000, sql2005, sql 2005 reporting services and acting as a domain controller. But if you run into performance problems it will be harder to analyze :-( |

Well, any reason why do you need to have everything on the one server? Budget? Does it accept by your management? its not the right ting to do. "Uri Dimant" wrote: > NH > Well, any reason why do you need to have everything on the one server? > Budget?
