Hi

Have you got the latest version of windows installer?

Is this a local or remote setup?

Have you specified service accounts?

Have you installed from this media before?

Hi John

Have you got the latest version of windows installer?
We have latest version of windows installer.

Is this a local or remote setup?
This is a remote setup. I am logging from my machine to the server as
administrator.

Have you specified service accounts?
I have used LOCAL account. I have used local account in my previous
installations on other servers.

Have you installed from this media before?
YES, I have installed from this CD thrice before. In all three cases, it
worked fine and sql servers 2005 installed from this media are running
without issues.

John

Hi

A remote setup would have the DVD in your machine, if this is the case have
you tried the DVD on the server or copying the contenrts of the media onto
the server?

Have you checked any of the other log files to see if there are any other
errors?

The DVD is on the server. I am connecting to the server remotely. If we can
not sort it out then during reinstallation I will copy contents of media
remotely.

Yes, I have checked all other log files and summary.txt, All steps looks
sucessful. It also looks like SQL server is installed and running. I can see
"SQL server configuration manager, edit settings in SQL Server surface area
configuration but I do not see "SQL Server Management Studio".

Thanks

WHICH COMPONENTS ARE NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AND CORRECT IT??

If we can
not sort it out then during reinstallation I will copy contents of media
TO THE SERVER.

Usually if the install fails everything should rollback so you would need to
install everything. It does not look like a media issue, but copying the
media should not do any harm.

You could try a minimal installation of just the engine and see if that
works.

Surface Area Configuration and Configuration Manager will be installed
anyway however if you do not explicitly check Client Tools \ Management
Tools from the Components to Install window' s Advanced window, then SSMS
will not be installed.

This is not a sign of a problem, this is a matter of choice.
