Hi,
The installation prompts for user to run the engine service account, the default (and recommended) user is a domain user, not a local user. I'm interested to know why the service account runs with access to network resources? Is it to do with being able to browse/link to other servers, or are there other reasons? (I can see why DTS/SSIS jobs would need network access). -- Gerry Hickman (London UK) |

Whatever the choice it should be the least privileged, you may require domain access for database mail or network backups to work. You can specify a local user, but then you have local service and local system accounts and if you have more than one server it is easier to use these rather than maintain specific accounts on each system.
