Is it possible to upgrade an nt4 pdc to windows 2000 server, not install
Active Directory, and have it still be a Domain Controller for the existing domain? |

It is not possible to have a Windows 2000 or 2003 server be a domain
controller for an NT 4 domain. When you upgrade a NT4 PDC it installs Active Directory. Not sure why you
wouldn't want it. It is far superior to Nt 4 .. -- Scott Harding MCSE, MCSA, Net +, A+ MVP - Windows Server Networking "Ray" <no@repliesplease.com> wrote in message news:eLbPzXdJHHA.1468@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > It is not possible to have a Windows 2000 or 2003 server be a domain > controller for an NT 4 domain. > > Ray > > "DLove" <DLove@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:2E7434F5-15AC-4772-A61B-639379E2B82B@microsoft.com... >> Is it possible to upgrade an nt4 pdc to windows 2000 server, not install >> Active Directory, and have it still be a Domain Controller for the >> existing >> domain? > > |
