How do I route an IP address to a host name? I have read that I need to
create a ptr record but am a little confused. bascially I want to route 81.178.3.108 to my internal IP 192.168.1.20 (Host name zion). I have tried creating a ptr record but it doesnt seem to work . Im running DNS on win2003. |

DNS does not route, it only returns IPs for names and names from IPs (If a reverse lookup zone is configured) That said, you can likely create all the reverse lookup zones and PTRs you want for public IP addresses and it won't do any good because most ISPs maintain the Authority of the reverse lookups on public IPs. -- Best regards, Kevin D.
