I have a network comprising of all Windows 2000 Servers, where one really old
server appears to be the only server running both DNS & DHCP. If I want to get rid of this and pass the responsibility on to anoter server, are there any easy guides out there from Microsoft. Plus would I have to reconfigure everything, or can I set up some kind of replication before retiring the old server? |

If this is an Active Directory domain, and your zones are integrated into Active Directory, all you really need to do is install DNS on the DCs. (ADI zones replicate to all DCs in the domain) Then configure DHCP to hand out the correct DNS address. You can also move the DHCP configuration to another server fairly easy. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/130642/en-us -- Best regards, Kevin D.
