Par défaut ping request

Hi - I'm not sure if this is DNS related or not but I can't ping anything by
name or ip address from the server.

However clients can ping by name and ip address to the server.

Clients cannot ping each other.

Any ideas much appreciated

Hello Steve,

How are they physically connected? Did you configure fixed ip's on client
and workstations or do you use DHCP? Is on the server the firewall enabled?
What operating system do you use? Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from
the server and one client.

Best regards

Then it is not likely a (pure) DNS Problem since you cannot Ping by
NUMBER (IP Address).

This strongly implies that the Ping packets are both routable (getting there
and back) and not blocked by INTERMEDIATE FIREWALLS (on
routers etc.).

Therefore it also STRONGLY suggests that the CLIENTS are Firewall
receiving (and responding) to ICMP ECHO Requests (Ping).

> Clients cannot ping each other.

Adds evidence for the above diagnosis.

Check your LOCAL FIREWALLS on the clients. Likely you have them
enabled and the ICMP Echo requests are blocked (the default for most
such firewalls.)
