In our enviroment we have serveral offices that have dns/dhcp and are all
configured under DHCP with Enable DNS Dynamic updates according to the settings below and Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records only if requested by the DHCP client What we having issues with is multple client records with the same ip address. Some of the records are pc's that have been decommissioned others are just turned off. Would chaning this to Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records any? I don't like to just change things to try that is why I'm asking. Could I be missing something else? TIA |

Hi MTechG,
For records that are PCs that have been decommissioned, you need to enable Aging and Scavenging to remove them. Changing the "Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records" option does not get rid of these out-dated records. To enable the Aging and Scavenging, you need to enable "it" on 3 levels. Enable it on record level, zone level and server level. -- HTH Marty "MTechG" wrote: > In our enviroment we have serveral offices that have dns/dhcp and are all > configured under DHCP with Enable DNS Dynamic updates according to the > settings below > and > Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records only if requested by the DHCP client > > What we having issues with is multple client records with the same ip > address.
