Hi there,
I have a W2K3 DNS server configured under DNS console, in forwarding tab with 2 W2K3 servers. I want to configure the 3rd forwarder and ideally all internet queries traffic should go through 3rd server, while the first 2 should just be used for windows DNS name resolution, logins, printing, file shares and intranet sites. Is this possible? Also how the forwarders get used from the dns client perspective, if first forwarder not answer, the dns query goes to 2nd one and so on? Thanks, T |

Windows Server 2003 supports a new DNS forward feature called "conditional
forwarding" (which is not available in Windows 2000 Server) You can, for example, specifiy a domain and which DNS to forward to. You should add all your internal domains in the "conditional forward", and specify the proper DNS server for each domain. and then for all other unresolved queries, forward them to your ISP's (Internet) DNS server. -- HTH Marty "Tester" wrote: > Hi there, > I have a W2K3 DNS server configured under DNS console, in forwarding > tab with 2 W2K3 servers. > I want to configure the 3rd forwarder and ideally all internet queries > traffic should go through 3rd server, while the first 2 should just be > used for windows DNS name resolution, logins, printing, file shares > and intranet sites.
